COURSE DESCRIPTION: Guitar: Foundations 1 builds upon the ideas and concepts taught in the beginning Guitar courses and further aids students in mastering the fundamentals of guitar playing. Students will increase their chord knowledge and ability and learn the style of fingerpicking. Students will gain the tools and know-how to begin composing throughout the course. Students will also learn about the history of jazz and fingerstyle guitar, examining important players. Students can expect to encounter a variety of listening and playing assignments, as well as lesson quizzes and exams, and will create a portfolio of recordings that reflect the progress they make.
