Contemporary Keyboarding: Foundations 2 – UC APPROVED
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Contemporary Keyboarding: Foundations 2 will continue to strengthen students’ skills with chords, technique, and overall control of the instrument. Students will explore new melodic ideas by learning how to play in different key signatures, and they will get to play the 12-bar blues after exploring the blues chords and the blues scale. The course includes media clips, piano technique exercises, new music to learn with play-along tracks, discussions about music theory, music history, and improvisation activities to continue to develop the student’s musical style and refine their piano skills. Students can expect to encounter a variety of listening and playing assignments, as well as lesson quizzes and exams, and will create a portfolio of recordings that reflect the progress they make.
