Contemporary Keyboarding: Foundations 1 – UC APPROVED
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Contemporary Keyboarding: Foundations 1 will continue to expand and develop material from the beginner Contemporary Keyboarding courses, as students up their rhythm game by using triplets, syncopation, and compound meters. Students will also get to listen to the music and learn about the lives of Frederic Chopin and Herbie Hancock. The course includes media clips, piano technique exercises, new music to learn with play-along tracks, discussions about music theory, music history, composition assignments, and improvisation activities to continue to develop the student’s musical style and refine their piano skills. Students can expect to encounter a variety of listening and playing assignments, as well as lesson quizzes and exams, and will create a portfolio of recordings that reflect the progress they make.
