TEACHING STYLE

My main goal is to help the student develop a love for the instrument and a mastery and understanding of the fundamentals. If a student loves the guitar then they will want to practice. The more they practice the better they become and the more fun they have. The more fun they have the more they will want to practice. As long as basics are being learned and understood I try to go in the direction of the interest of the student whether that be rock, blues, jazz, fingerstyle, classical, etc. I have a strong belief in learning to read music and understanding music theory so that the student can learn to improvise, write their own songs, and so they can understand what is being played and taught! Yearly recitals are also available as well as masterclasses and clinics by Michael Dowdle, Rich Dixon, and others! Most importantly, I want them to have fun!
