Laura Saylor

Laura Saylor is a Doctoral Candidate in Brass Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Iowa where she served as principal trumpet of the UI Symphony Orchestra and was a member of the faculty brass quintet. She holds a master's degree in Trumpet Performance from Boston University, a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Messiah College (Grantham, PA), and studied chamber music at the University of New Mexico. Primary teachers include Amy Schendel, William Stowman, and trumpet virtuoso Terry Everson.As an educator, Laura works with student and adult trumpeters and has presented clinics in public schools and universities throughout the Midwest. Past performing credits include the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the Santa Fe Symphony, the Quincy Symphony, and Dennis DeYoung and the Music of Styx. Laura can be heard performing around the state of Iowa and beyond with the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, the Brass Mill Quintet, the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band, the Eastern Iowa Brass Band, and as lead trumpet in The Motherlode funk band.
