Sam Williams is a freelance flute performer and teacher who has been teaching privately since 2009. From elementary students to adults, Sam has experience teaching flutists of all levels, many of whom have performed in all-county, all-state, and honor bands and orchestras. As a performer, Sam has played with the Louisville Orchestra, Louisville Ballet, Huntsville Symphony, and Cedar Rapids Municipal Band. An active chamber musician, he performs regularly on piccolo, alto, and bass in addition to C flute. He has been recognized in competitions with the Flute Societies of Kentucky and Florida.Sam holds a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from the University of Iowa along with coursework at the University of Louisville. His past teachers include Nicole Esposito, Kathleen Karr, Toshiko Kohno, and Charles W. Smith. Additionally, Sam has done study at the Imani Winds Summer Workshop in New York as well as the National Symphony Institute in Washington, DC.Currently, Sam resides in the Iowa City area with his Mozart-loving cockatiel, Peabo.
