Biology: Semester 2
Description: In this course students, will continue studying life, but with a progressively wider lens by discovering the variety of life that has evolved, determining how to categorize different living things, and comparing how these living things interact with their environment. Throughout their studies, student will distinguish between all six kingdoms of living things and describe the characteristics of living things in comparison to nonliving things; describe the characteristics of viruses and bacteria and indicate which diseases they cause; describe characteristics of fungi and protists; explain the importance of plants, describe the discovery of photosynthesis, and compare the function and structures of routes, stems, and leaves; name and compare five classes of vertebrate animals and classify mammals into the monotreme group, marsupial group, or placental group; name the eleven systems of the human body and describe the function of each system. *This course does include a lab.
