TEACHING AT MOZINGO SINCE: 2007 YOUNGEST AGE: 5 Scott Lyle received an undergraduate degree in Music Performance summa cum laude from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a master’s degree in Music Theory/Composition from Washington University in Saint Louis. He has taught in the St. Louis area at several universities and many private studios, and has performed extensively with various ensembles since the 1980’s. Scott has done a considerable amount of recording/studio work including sessions for Stages St. Louis, MADCO, and other area institutions. In his spare time, he likes to compose music and has scored music for two ballet organizations.Scott has recently published a book entitled: An Introduction to the Conventions of Contemporary Music Notation: A Twenty-First Century Vantage (2016), to help students to acquire the skills necessary to be musically adept in the age of technology. He enjoys performing music of all eras and harbors a particular penchant for the avant garde and post-tonal contemporary milieu. Scott is currently employed by Maryville University in St. Louis where he instructs guitar students and is engaged as a lecturer in Music Theory, Ear Training, and Music Notation Technology courses. He is also engaged at Webster University as a lecturer in Music Theory courses.
