TEACHING AT MOZINGO SINCE: 2014 YOUNGEST AGE: 5 Bethany Coad is an accomplished pianist with 15 years of experience. Specializing in improvisation, she has performed at several local venues, including the Spring Art Walk in Historic Downtown St. Charles. She has served as pianist for several local churches. She has taught piano intermittently for 8 years, and has accompanied several choirs, including the St. Charles Christian Home Educators (SCCHE) Concert Choir, the Choral Arts Singers, and MCCA Vocal Fusion. A skilled vocalist, Bethany has studied with MCCA Artistic Director Wendi Dicken. She has participated in the SCCHE Concert Choir as a student, the Choral Arts Singers, the Missouri Choral Society, and is currently part of the Mozingo Choristers. She is involved in the music ministry at Grace Baptist Church where she attends, and directs the Youth Choir, as well as participates in the orchestra and regular solo work.Bethany has had experience in choral conducting with the Choral Arts Singers. She is currently the director of MCCA Mozingo Kidz, MCCA Synergy, and the SCCHE Kinder Choir. She instructs children in basic vocal technique, music theory and rhythm, and uses music that is simple enough for beginners, yet musically sound and fun to sing and listen to. While teaching voice, she applies the same foundational technique there as in the choir. Her passion is teaching students to develop the natural beauty and resonance of their own voice, and to be comfortable singing without imitation. Bethany graduated in 2013 from Louisiana Baptist University with a BA in Communications and a Minor in Music. She continues to study to be better equipped at teaching and is pursuing a second music major degree. Bethany enjoys helping students of all ages to discover their own individual strengths, and delights in working with young beginners.

TEACHING STYLE

Becky teaches many different musical styles, including classical, jazz, country/fiddle/bluegrass, folk, pop, worship and rock. She will instruct on ear training, technique, correct fingering, theory, rhythm… For violin, Becky teaches the Suzuki violin method. For piano, she teaches from the Alfred’s Basic Piano Library and Hanon 60 exercises (but is open to supplement with other methods and genres). Becky has two expectations for all of her students: work hard and have fun!
