Alberto Jimenez

Mexican guitarist, because of his versatility and flexibility in different styles of music, he has participated in projects that embrace classical, jazz, Mexican and Afro-Caribbean music. He was formed in classical guitar at "Universidad Veracruzana", Méxcio (University from Veracruz, México), where he studied with important teachers such as Mauricio Hernandez, Roberto Aguirre, and Massimo Gatta, besides of taking private classes with Paolo Pegoraro, David Jaques, and Julio Cesar Oliva. In jazz, he was formed by faculty members of Berklee School of Music, and professional jazz musicians of the Mexican jazz scene. He has performed in Jazz Festivals in México introducing his own compositions. As a jazz educator, he worked for nine years (2008-2017) at "Centro de estudios de Jazz JazzUV, Universidad Veracruzana, México" (Jazz Studies Center JazzUV, University of Veracruz, México), teaching subjects related to Jazz music. Nowadays, he resides in New York City, where is studying a Master program in Jazz performance at Queens College, guided by professional musicians such as Antonio Hart, Paul Bollenback, David Berkman and Dennise Mackrel.

TEACHING STYLE

My philosophy about learning process is that it has to be fun, meaningful and according to everyone goals. This way, my teaching philosophy is to support students to find his path through the music, no matters age, preferences or priority. Always, the best result is being honest about ourselves.
