Saxophone: Foundations 2 (non-credit)
This is a non-credit course and will not provide high school credit or instructor feedback/communication.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Saxophone: Foundations 2 is designed for the intermediate saxophonist and picks up where Saxophone: Foundations 1 left off. Students will continue to work on building strong fundamentals, as these will aid them in every aspect of saxophone playing. A continuation of major scales broken into common patterns will help to solidify technique and major key arpeggios will be introduced. Students will continue to study saxophone history, as well as important jazz and classical saxophonists, to help them place the saxophone’s importance and development as an instrument into historical context. Near the end of the course, basic improvisation will be introduced with the blues scale and blues form. Students can expect to encounter a variety of listening and playing assignments, as well as lesson quizzes and exams, and will create a portfolio of recordings that reflect the progress they make.
