COURSE DESCRIPTION: Music Theory: Basics 1 is designed to introduce students to the foundational concepts and building blocks of music and how to apply these ideas to their instrument. More importantly, it is designed for students to acquire the vocabulary and knowledge needed to communicate with other musicians and to apply the principles learned to better convey their musical ideas. Throughout this course students will learn to read and write music. Finally, students will also learn where modern music theory came from.
