COURSE DESCRIPTION: French Horn: Foundations 2 continues to explore repertoire specific to the horn. Playing excerpts will become more challenging as the course continues, and near the end of the course students will perform a standard solo that is commonly asked for in high school auditions. Students will improve their composition techniques (transposition and transcription), giving them the skills they need to begin creating music that suits their interests and abilities. They will listen to the top performing horn soloists and orchestras in the world as preparation for performing symphonic and opera excerpts. Students can expect to encounter a variety of listening and playing assignments, as well as lesson quizzes and exams, and will create a portfolio of recordings that reflect the progress they make.
