Flute: Basics 1 – UC APPROVED
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Flute: Basics 1 lays a solid foundation for the beginning flutist—breathing, sound development, embouchure, posture, instrument assembly, and note reading are among the first topics covered. Students will also learn about the history of the flute, listen to a variety of genres of flute music, and understand proper flute maintenance with lots of listening and video examples to reinforce all topics. Students explore effective practice—warming up, productive habits, and other essential exercises—each lesson packed with ample information and exercises for students to develop their flute playing skills. Students can expect to encounter a variety of listening and playing assignments, as well as lesson quizzes and exams, and will create a portfolio of recordings that reflect the progress they make.
