COURSE DESCRIPTION: Drums: Beginner 1 focuses on creating a solid drumming foundation. Students study the fundamentals of playing the snare and bass drum, including developing proper technique for both. This course highlights the invention of primitive to modern snare and bass drums and explores how musical notation has evolved over centuries. Students learn how to count and hear rhythms accurately and sharpen their counting skills through a variety of listening and playing assignments, as well as lesson quizzes and exams, and will create a portfolio of recordings that reflect the progress they make.

- Recording device for recording assignments (phone, tablet, camera, computer, etc.)
- Drum sticks (suggestion in lesson 1.5)
- Drum Throne (stool)
